Do you find yourself unhappy with how your home looks? Do you often feel bored and like you want a change that is both challenging and rewarding? Why not put your skills and knowledge to the test by working on some DIY projects this weekend! DIY projects are often a cheaper alternative rather than having a professional come in and charge you for the labor and the materials. Plus, you can work DIY projects easily into your schedule, meaning no worries on having someone else at your house when it's inconvenient!

According to Forbes, there are some home improvement trends you should be looking out for in 2019! Check out there article to learn more! Let's take a minute to discuss some of these home improvement trends and give a little insight ourselves! I especially want to talk about DIY projects.

The first point Forbes makes for home improvement is that most DIY-ers tend to be millennials as they tend to be working and utilizing technology more than others. Constantly on the go to learn new things! Not to mention, many millennials are probably college students or just getting out of college and have not gotten a great and high paying career yet, though they want to keep things fresh and in an affordable way, so why not DIY! Forbes even said not many had the help of a professional. All it takes is some inspiration and research and you're on your way to a fantastic new project! Keep in mind with DIY projects though, that patience is KEY. If you're an impatient person and do not want to take the time to make the project good, you may just waste money creating something you are unhappy with, and no one wants that.

Another point Forbes makes is that over-inspiration tends to leave people with regret, and I can attest to that. Sometimes you get so much inspiration for what you want, that you don't stop and think if everything will flow together..and you also end up with a never-ending list of DIY projects. I am a major culprit of that.

Another home improvement trend that Forbes pointed out was that the rental housing market is on the rise. Now, this could be for many reasons. In my experience, most people won't purchase a home unless they enjoy the area they are in and can see themselves living there for quite a while or they can simply afford it. You'll find that a lot of young people will be renting, and while they are often unable to make significant changes to their apartment, a lot of DIY projects allow them to get something they'd like done to the apartment without damaging or disrupting the layout.

Forbes also states that remodeling activity isn't slowing down either as many homeowners are choosing to fix and update their home, rather than moving altogether. Remodeling is also a great idea should you decide to sell your house and move in the future as it will increase the value of your home, and make you love it a little bit more while you are there.

Lastly, Forbes mentions how the lighting industry is helping significantly with bringing wellness into your home. There are new types of lights used to make your home feel more like it's being lit with natural light and there are even some lightbulbs that are able to change not only how much they illuminate, but also the temperature. Take a look at a previous article on our blog called: "Your Home Choices Can Affect Your Health!"

With that being said, have a great and creative weekend!

Things are looking up!

When it comes to different types of ceilings, there is a lot to choose from. If you're like most people, you think of the standard drop ceiling that we're used to seeing in many homes is the only option. That kind of thinking couldn't be further from the truth! If you're considering switching things up with your new home, check out this post to brainstorm some ideas for a new ceiling.
