How To: Stick to Your Home Improvement Goals in 2018

With a new year comes new home improvement goals. For some, this might mean smaller projects like repainting a room, while others may be looking towards BIG goals like building a new home. Either way, there tends to be hold ups and interferences that crush our goals along the way. Follow these helpful tips to stick to your 2018 home improvement goals.

1. Be realistic - A big part of this is planning projects out. Be realistic with your timeline, how much you're willing to spend and the amount of time it will take to complete. If you set realistic goals you're less likely to get stressed out or fall behind schedule.

2. Follow your budget - After you've planned out your projects, take time to look into how much you can spend, and then after you've got a concrete number, look into how much the project will actually cost. Most places are more than happy to provide you with a quote.

3. Start your research now - Although inflation is likely to become an issue depending on how long your projects will take, the sooner you get informed, the better. If you're planning on completing the project this year, your estimate should be pretty close to the actual numbers you'll be working with.

4. Map out your timeline - Only certain projects can be completed during certain times of year. Start with your outdoor projects first, and then fill in projects you can work on when the weather doesn't permit for your project. This is also a great step to organize your personal commitments around your home improvement projects.

#SolarSunday

Having a pool to cool off and relax in is a luxury that is especially nice during these hot summer months. But, like most luxuries in life, time, energy, and money must be put into owning a pool. One of the costs associated with having a pool is the money it takes to heat a pool. If you are interested in swimming in your pool after the sun goes down or during cooler months, heating your pool is a viable option to consider. Check out some information about how solar hot water collectors can heat your pool. How does it work? Pool water gets pumped through a filter into a solar hot water collector. Solar hot water collectors are thin and generally mounted on a roof. Thin pipes of water then run through the collector. When the sun's rays hit the collector, they heat the running water inside.
