Tips for Packing Up Your Summer Gear

Summer is on its way out, and fall and winter are on their way in. With that in mind, you'll want to start storing away your summer items to make room for your winter stuff. Follow these helpful hacks to store away your summer stuff.

Clothing
Storing clothing can take up a ton of room if you're not careful. To save room and stay organized, roll your clothing or fold it neatly in piles. Next, store in plastic totes or in old comforter bags. Depending on how much clothing you have to store, consider building a shelf to store your bags or totes.

Lawn Mower
After you mow your lawn one last time in 2016, remember to store it away properly. If you don't take heed, you may have issues with it next spring. Either siphon the gas out, or add fuel stabilizer to the tank and fill it right up. Clean off any old grass clippings from the past season, store it in a dry space, and you'll be ready for next year.

Outdoor furniture
Nice lawn furniture can get pricey, so take the time to properly store yours so you won't need to replace it next year. The number one rule here is to clean your outdoor furniture thoroughly. Scrub, hose off, and dry each piece carefully or when you get it out next year it will smell of mold and mildew. A simple water and dish detergent solution will work fine. If you plan on re painting or sprucing them up, now is the time. Lastly, when you're all done, don't forget to cover your furniture with a drop cloth or tarp.

Grill
First off, clean out any old food particles left behind that are sure to be charred. Small animals would love to crawl in there, have a snack, and build a home in your grill while you're not using it. Cleaning your grill will also prevent it from corroding or building up oxidation, which both deteriorate your grill. The most important thing to know about storing your grill, though, is to NEVER store the propane tank indoors. Finally, cover your grill completely to prevent the elements from getting in.

Having a pool to cool off and relax in is a luxury that is especially nice during these hot summer months. But, like most luxuries in life, time, energy, and money must be put into owning a pool. One of the costs associated with having a pool is the money it takes to heat a pool. If you are interested in swimming in your pool after the sun goes down or during cooler months, heating your pool is a viable option to consider. Check out some information about how solar hot water collectors can heat your pool. How does it work? Pool water gets pumped through a filter into a solar hot water collector. Solar hot water collectors are thin and generally mounted on a roof. Thin pipes of water then run through the collector. When the sun's rays hit the collector, they heat the running water inside.
