  1. Get rid of all the dead - Before you get to work putting new additions to your lawn, get rid of the "trash" in your yard. This includes, but is not limited to, pinecones, dead leaves or grass, litter, plants that didn't make it through the winter, etc.
  2. Prepare your planting beds - If you did your work before winter hit, this job will be much easier on you. Till up and sift through the existing soil in your beds and add in compost to get the soil mineral rich before you plant your summer goodies.
  3. Refurbish lawn furniture and ornaments - Dig out your lawn chairs and give them a scrub down as well as a new coat of paint or sealer. Wash the fabric of seat cushions, polish any lighting fixtures, etc.
