Gallant Galleries

Interior home decor is all about personal taste. For some, clean crisp walls is the way to go and for others an empty wall equals a missed opportunity! This Sunday we're spotlighting a favorite for wall decor, gallery walls! These simple steps will have you inspired to tackle your own gallery wall in your home in no time.

What's Your Style?
One of the greatest things about gallery walls is that it's entirely up to your own personal style. Have a collection of prints, photographs, found objects etc. that you're looking for a way to showcase? A gallery wall is the perfect way to do so! Whether it's a themed collection or not, a gallery wall should reflect you!

Shelf Life
Nervous about putting that many holes in your walls? There are ways around that! Consider sticky strips that won't harm your wall if you're a nervous nail placer. Or if you're feeling more adventurous, consider a shelf! Styled shelves function beautifully as a gallery wall, without all of the holes in the wall!

Lay It All Out
Set yourself up for success by laying out your gallery wall idea without actually hanging your gallery pieces. If you have any scrap paper around your home, gather it and cut it to the sizes of each piece you are looking to hang. Using small pieces of masking tape you are able to work and re-work your design to the layout of your choice! This ensures that you'll be pleased with the overall flow of your wall without actually hanging any frames.

Pro Tip: Start with the largest piece and use it as the focal point. Work from the center out. We recommend spacing artwork at least 1¼ inches apart to make each piece stand out on its own. Try to keep the overall pattern balanced against other furniture or centered in a room. (Houzz)

Get Inspired
Starting your own gallery wall can be intimidating; too many ideas floating around can be difficult to work through! Turning to Pinterest or home styling blogs can be a great place to gather inspiration for your gallery wall, or even for layout ideas. The two images below, found via jennaburger.com, give great styling ideas that include both frames and furniture to get you inspired!

Hamilton's Marketing Specialist Carly had an empty wall that needed some oompf. Starting with treasured art pieces that she's collected, but never hung, she used the scrap paper method to plan her arrangement. The best part now that these works of art are hung? Finding new pieces of art to grow her gallery!
